Munroe Regional is pleased to announce that the Medical Center has earned the #1 overall quality score ranking among all of our VHA Southeast hospital partners.

“We regard this as a testament to the hospital’s #1 strategic imperative, which is a dedication and commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Dr. Lon McPherson, Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs & Chief Quality Officer.  “To receive this overall #1 quality ranking on top of our recent selection by the community as the National Research Corporation’s #1 Consumer Choice hospital in Marion County for quality, image, best doctors and nurses makes us proud of the service that we provide to our community.”

The VHA Southeast Hospital Quality Score Report contains clinical quality, patient safety, and hospital performance indicators that are either being monitored by healthcare regulatory bodies such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or are nationally recognized as evidence based measures of healthcare quality and patient safety by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The report was created to help VHA Southeast facilities remain aware of their own performance relative to these nationally recognized and monitored indicators and to identify the indicators for which they may have the greatest potential opportunity for improvement to help focus performance improvement efforts.

The VHA is a national healthcare provider alliance of more than 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals and 21,000+ non-acute health care organizations. Based in Irving, Texas, VHA delivers supply chain management services to reduce the cost of healthcare and creates regional and national networks to help members solve key clinical and operational challenges. Munroe Regional Medical Center is a member of VHA Southeast that serves 32 members (85 hospitals) in Alabama, Florida and the United States Virgin Islands.
