Munroe Regional Medical Center is a 421-bed not-for-profit acute-care hospital in north central Florida whose mission is to improve the health of our community by delivering compassionate, innovative care through exceptional people doing extraordinary work.

Munroe Heart is a new program of Munroe Regional Medical Center that builds on the hospital’s solid reputation as one of the leading cardiovascular institutions in the state and the nation.

Munroe Regional Medical Center is one of only two hospitals in the U.S. and the only community hospital that has named to the Thomson Healthcare Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals every year since the list began in 1999.

The annual Thomson Healthcare award is based on hospitals’ performance in treating congestive heart failure and heart attacks. It uses statistical information to select the top performers from nearly 1,000 hospitals across the country. Munroe exceeds the median performance of its benchmark peer group in eight of the 15 areas measured.

Thomson estimates that if all cardiovascular hospitals achieved the same results as the Top 100 do, more than 7,000 lives would be saved annually in the U.S. and some 750 medical complications would be avoided.

The Top 100 hospitals reported patient stays that were 12 percent shorter, on average, than those of peer hospitals, and their costs averaged about $2,000 less per case.

Thomson Healthcare is a leading provider of products and services that help hospitals, health plans, and other health-related agencies manage the cost and improve the quality of care.
