Educating Patients Is Our Priority
The more patients know, the more comfortable they are when facing a heart or vascular procedure. One of the reasons Munroe's heart program is so successful is our focus on patient education.
It begins on the cardiovascular unit at the patient’s pre-op briefing session, which is done by a registered nurse whose sole responsibility is to help patients understand what to expect. With an emphasis on educating patients as well as their families, all cardiovascular unit RNs are trained in this critical aspect of hospital health care. Videos, printed materials, and one-on-one patient education sessions are all part of a successful stay in the cardiovascular unit.
